As a Sedona Proposal Photographer, I have taken many couples on an adventure, so lets start!

How to propose in sedona

I know you’re excited to look at cool places to propose in Sedona but understanding the proposal process will help you determine the best sedona proposal spots.

Proposal Tip:

  • It’s best to bundle your proposal & sedona engagement photos together because the emotions are high and you’re already there!
  • If you’re going for a surprise proposal, sticking with casual clothes is the best way to keep your partner in the unknown. Communicate with the photographer on how to be discrete!
  • If you value fashion or you’re not super adventurous type, then pick a shorter hike!
  • Plan something afterward. This can be a cute picnic on top of the hike, dinner at a restaurant, or meeting with the family right after. Celebrate your love! Make it awesome! You don’t do this everyday

Places to propose in sedona

1. Cathedral Rock

Probably the most well known Sedona hiking location, and thats because it’s probably the most epic hike in Sedona. Every blogs you read probably mention this and as epic as it is, it’s not as easy to hike up and parking is a pain. But if you have the patient to wait 15 mins for parking, it’s SUPER worth it! I mean look at this Sedona engagement photo!

Length: 1.2 mi Out & Back
Elevation gain: 741ft
Crowds level: High

2. Merry Go Round

A little less well known than Cathedral rock, but this one is popular among photographers and not regular hikes. So you might run into a few people getting married but the crowds are not as bad. You need 4×4 vehicle to access this trail!!

Length: 1.4 mi Out & Back
Elevation gain: 288ft
Crowds level: Medium

3. Devil’s Bridge

This one is definitely iconic! Up there with Cathedral Rock. But it’s tricky… I think this one is worth it if you’re willing to hike early in the morning…like early AF… So I don’t typically recommend this one because of the reason we talked about above.

Length: 3.9 mi
Elevation gain: 521ft
Crowds level: Depends

4. Lovers Knoll

a little hidden gem in Sedona, this place is very easy access, it’s just a pull off scenic view so if you’re planning on having few guests present on your ceremony this is a great spot! Beside the beautiful view there’s not much to this place so if you run into another couple who’s getting married, you might have to wait for your turn.

Length: 0.1 mi
Elevation gain: 10ft
Crowds level: Medium

5. Bell Rock

A little less well known than Cathedral rock, but this one is popular among photographers and not regular hikes. So you might run into a few people getting married but the crowds are not as bad. You need 4×4 vehicle to access this trail!!

Length: 0.8 mi Out & Back
Elevation gain: 208ft
Crowds level: High
